Lost Generation

[translated from Italian to English]
Dear my generation,
I love you.
The lessons, achievements, and failures
Of our ancestors might have left us
Important notions.
They opened our minds,
But even more significantly,
They opened our senses.
They opened our ears:
To listen is divine,
Fuel for progress and well-being.
They opened our eyes
Appreciating beauties, and recognizing follies and insanities.
They opened our savor.
The enjoyment of a homemade dish,
Unique to a certain place and person.
They opened our noses.
Burning with lethal drugs,
But delighted from scents never experienced before,
And now remarkable.
They opened our hands.
To get notions, experiences and gifts.
They then held them open
To share those gifts
With people less lucky.
Humiliated and mislead slaves
By religious, political, and human whores.
Sooner or later they’ll pay for their harms.
Meanwhile, my dear young man,
“Let us not speak of them, but look, and pass”.
Keep dreaming
And inspiring,
Nothing and nobody can stop you from thinking,
Not even them.
(j.b.)
