Eyes catch others’ eyes | For a moment souls are set free

this poem was born on a monday night in my room while thinking how eyes are the open doors into people souls. looking into somebody's eyes has always been for me one of the strongest and most fascinating sensations.

It’s in a bedroom in San Francisco
Pondering about my story
That I suddenly get moved.

How it evolved from a little river to the ocean.
My mind following, closely.

How Lira became Euro and now Dollar
Feeling dirtier and dirtier.

How hands, once too small for shoelaces,
Tied ropes, held hands, felt the cold of the Alps, the warmth of Greece,
And the beauty of a pen.

How my favorite cassette became a CD and now a playlist.
How the backyard became a terrace and now a grey fire stair.

Relentless eyes captured the links of a growing chain
And put them in a loop
To let other people see

Eyes catch others’ eyes
For a moment souls are set free
You can hear them
Screaming
Silently
Their stories,
See them
Spinning, ecstatic.
A journey
Into other people’s lives
Out of control
And the fear feels new
Intense
Deep.
