Taking examples from Gladwell's Outliers, World of Warcraft, and real life situations, Jane McGonigal [named one of the world's top innovators under the age of 35 by MIT's Technology Review] gives an interesting talk on the importance of gaming to solve real problems.
She believes that playing games can actually lead to new technology being developed, new ideas being created, and better collaboration across the human race.
From her blog:
"Reality is broken, and we all need to tap into a collective sense of urgent optimism—as well as the ability and capacity to act now—to make the future."

Thanks for pointing this out, Apo. You know how much I like Play making the world a better place. Much obliged. Happy Spring Break!
She was mentioned by Ken at Planningness, talking about The World Without Oil, you remember?
She has an interesting view on gaming. Have a nice break as well.
