Mexico | Day 1

Finally, after almost a month, I write the first day of our trip in Mexico.
I'm gonna keep the journal very short, all the jokes and moments that actually made the trip are too hard to share through words, as every great memory or feeling.
I hope you'll enjoy it, and if you want more details for some days feel free to let me know.
In this trip we drove the whole Baja California, more than 3500 km from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas.
It was a remarkable experience, with no maps or plans, a low budget and the will for adventure in our Chevy and tent.
A huge merit to Jose for making this trip possible and incredible, to Noah and Ted for being ridiculously great throughout the trip. Simon!

SFO-SAN

After almost missing the plane to San Diego, we land in the evening with our backpacks and tent. We call Catherine, who is going to host us for the night, and she tells us that her friend Lauren is on her way to pick us up. With Lauren, with stop for a burrito at Nico’s, and go at Catherine’s house where a fire pit is prepared in the backyard. She welcomes us with some wine and we move next to the fire to get to know each others. In less then a hour, a dozen of couchsurfers show up and we spend one of the most beautiful night of the trip drinking beers around the fire talking with people never met before. Among them, is Oscar, a guy who decides to give us a toss and wish us all the best for our trip to Mexico. Surprised and amazed we can’t find the words to thank him.
The night then moves to a house warming party organized by some other couchsurfers. On the way there I sit in the trunk and enjoy San Diego flashing by. We arrive at the party and meet Missy and her friends from India. The night finishes and we go back to our couches and sleeping bags to sleep a few hours before walking to the border.

Moment of the day: Jose to Apo, who’s about to drop a bottle of red wine on a white carpet at the house warming party while trying to flip it 360: - “Apo, I trust you!”
